Rest
Rest explores how stillness and softness manifest on Black Trans bodies in spaces where rest is often denied. Created in November 2021 during my time as an Artist in Residence at Eureka House in Hudson, New York, this project marks a pivotal point in both my practice and my transition, about a year and a half into my journey as a trans woman. Through intimate imagery, the work shows rest as a natural, unpolished, and deeply human state—an act of resistance as much as renewal. Each image affirms our right to exist in ease, to be seen outside of labor and survival, and to claim rest as a radical, everyday practice.
