Begun the morning of August 19, 2025, just hours before my gender-affirming facial feminization surgery, this ongoing self-portrait series documents the most intense and transformative stage of my transition so far. Shot with self-timers, remote controls, and natural light, the images capture moments of raw vulnerability as friends, family, and my partner visit me during recovery. Inspired by Carrie Mae Weems’ Kitchen Table Series, the work reflects on healing as both an isolating and communal process, revealing stages of pain, stillness, tenderness, and love. Updated weekly throughout my seven-week recovery, the series serves as both an archive of metamorphosis and a meditation on womanhood in transition.
